Definition of draping angle in a suspension clamp

The draping angle: the change in the span and height of the tower caused by the terrain fluctuation of the overhead line, and the influence of the ambient air temperature on the wire and the lightning arrester, and the change of the load, will cause the different hanging angles of the hanger lines on both sides of the tower.

In order to prevent the damage caused by excessive bending stress at the outlet of the stranded wire, the necessary checking should be carried out to ensure that the actual draping angle of the outlet on both sides of the strands does not exceed the permissible draping angle of the draping clamp.

GB standard: the draping angle of suspension line clamp should be no less than 250, and the radius of curvature of the hanging vertical clamp is not less than 8 times of the diameter of the installed conductor.
